Pencils of Promise

I understand that a lot of you don't like Justin Bieber. I recently read this article about his trip to Guatemala. If you didn't know, he has a charity called Pencils of Promise, he goes to third world countries and helps them out. But this time it was different, Justin gave a little boy his shoes. A lot of you might think this is nothing but for this little boy it meant the world. To have something that this little boy has never had, it meant a lot to him. I didn't want to change your view on him I just wanted to try to respect him.

Nowhere But Up: Rate

I love this book! It is so touching and inspirationl. Pattie is such an amazing women, even though she went through a lot of tough times in her life she kept her head up high. It's hard to be a teen mom but she gets through the hardships and raises Justin to be an amazing boy. Being 17 and having a newborn whose dad won't help out has to be hard I can't even imagine going through what she had to.  Overall I give this book a 10/10 and I recommend it to everyone no matter if you like Justin Bieber or not.

Theme Post!

Nowhere But Up is about a teenager named Pattie Mallette and how she gets through really difficult times during her years as a young adult. She has seen everything in her years from sexual abuse, to drugs, to alcohol, and even having a baby. Many people may know her as Justin Biebers mom but she is much more then that! She is a strong women! Everything she has had to deal with when he was younger must have been hard. It's kind of like if one of us would get pregnant or go through the things she has been through. I believe she is a truly inspiring women. No matter if you like Justin Bieber or not his mom could be a role model to a lot of us. She has had difficult times but has made it through them with support from her family and friends.

Tone/Mood

The tone of Nowhere but Up is joyful. Pattie had just gave birth to Justin and she was happy but she is trying to figure out how to raise Justin since she is only a teenager. At first Pattie was scared to have the baby but then she realized she would have so much help when Justin is born.
The mood of Nowhere But Up is loving. Pattie and Jereny both love Justin and they want to do the best they can for him. Even though Pattie and Jeremy's relationship is on and off they still love each other and are one happy family.
An example of the mood and tone is: “As first-time parents, Jeremy and I couldn’t take our eyes off Justin. I melted at the slightest hint of a smile or a gurgling laugh. I loved how his tiny hands reached out for me, his mama. As I held Justin and pressed my nose against his sweet face, I disappeared into that distinct baby smell. He was a gift. He was entrusted to me. He was my life.”
There are manny times when Pattie feels alone and like no one cares. She chooses to go to church and bible studies to help her stay happy and to remind her that God is watching over her.

Nowhere But Up: book recommendation

I love this book! It tells the story of a teenager who is on the wrong road then she gets on the right road. Pattie uses God to get through hard times in her life, she feels that God can make things better. Until she gets back into drugs and alcohol and ends up getting pregnant. She has to figure out a way a way to raise Justin by herself because Jeremy (Justin's dad) doesn't want anything to do with Pattie and/or Justin. Patties parents don't want to have anything to do with the baby either which results in Pattie having to stay in a pregnancy center. I feel like a hand full of teens today are getting pregnant and she is speechify for those girls who are afraid to use there voice.

Blogger Re-Do

This part of the book was really emotional. She has gone thought so much yet she is so strong! I don't want to give much away but she goes through some hard times when she is younger with sexual abuse and not having a dad around. I was actually about to cry because of how she had to go through all of this yet stay positive and wake up with a smile on her face everyday! She is truly my inspiration and I am in love with this book. I feel so many people in the United States alone that suffers from the same kind of abuse but people are afraid to speak about it. She speaks for those people and tells them to stay strong and to never give up. Her story gives people a voice and says that people shouldn't have to go through the pain of abbyse. Overall I give this part of the book a 10-10!!! I will keep reading this book and I want to read her other book too!
