Nowhere But Up: Reading Skills

Right now thin the story Pattie is talking about how she struggled throughout her teenage years with drugs, alcohol, family problems, and jobs. I think that soon in the book Pattie will stop doing drugs and alcohol and get back on her feet. I don't think it will be right away but I think she will get a reality check and realizes that what she is doing is not the right answer. Will everything get better with her and her family? What is going to happen in her life that is such a big deal and that will stop the drugs and alcohol? Will she ever stop drinking and doing drugs? One thing that happens in the book and happens in real life is that teens sadly do drink and do drugs (Text to world). In the book Home is Where the Heartbreak is and in Nowhere But Up there are struggles with relationship and with trying to keep a relationship at such a young age (text to text). Lastly a text to self connection would be when you think that someone is your friend but truly they are just using you to get to someone or to get something.

  1. I though you blog was very good. Why do you think that Pattie is going to stop using drugs and alcohol? Do you think that she will most likey end up going to rehab and getting better or is there a slight change things will go downhill? Are Home is Where the Heartbreak is and Nowhere But Up in a series? They sound like good books, I may read them sometime.

  2. Did Pattie get into drugs and alcohol by herself because of her family or did she get friends that did those things? Also i agree that it is sad that teens get into drugs and alcohol, especially because they have great future oppurtunites ahead of them.
